WHY CHOOSE THE BIO BRIGADE?
GRADE A AT GCSE & A LEVEL
Having sat her GCSEs in 2017 and her A Levels in 2019 our founder and CEO, Grace, knows how difficult these new biology courses can be. However, having gained A grades in both her GCSE and A Level she knows how to work to get these top grades. Spoiler alert: you don't have to be a genius! Exam technique and working smarter are key and we're here to help you!
KNOWLEDGE & PASSION
We have extensive knowledge of the GCSE & A Level curriculum and a passion for helping students gain confidence in biology and in their abilities; this is by far the most important part to us, hence our very affordable tutoring prices.
DEGREE LEVEL BIOLOGIST
Our founder and CEO, Grace, is currently studying a BSc Microbiology degree at the University of Leeds which has given her an even greater knowledge of biology. She is currently on an Industrial Placement Year and due to complete her degree in 2023.
EFFECTIVE & ENGAGING SESSIONS
Sessions are interactive with animated and engaging presentations explaining content and exam technique, quizzes, past paper practise, educational games, and overall enjoyment and benefit.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DOES YOUR FOUNDER HAVE?
IPG HEALTH CONSULTING INTERN
Worked on a number of projects for pharmaceutical clients involving multiple therapy and scientific areas. The role involved presentation creation, video production, workshop support, communication, and teamwork with colleagues and clients.
LITE STUDENT PROJECT ASSISTANT: DIGITAL
Led, managed, and created video projects showcasing Leeds Institute of Teaching Excellence (LITE) fellowships at the University of Leeds.
UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS STUDENT ENGAGEMENT INTERN LEAD
Led online events and produced newsletters and social media content (including YouTube videos) for Faculty of Biological Science's students.
CONTENT CREATOR - BIO BRIGADE
Run a YouTube channel, website & social media pages. Production of engaging GCSE & A Level videos and resources.
TEAM LEADER, SPORTS COACH, MENTOR & TUTOR
Led and encouraged students aged 16-17 years from all backgrounds and walks of life through National Citizen Service (NCS) summer programmes. | Coached young people of all ages in hockey and athletics. | Volunteered in mentoring schemes and tutored students of all ages and abilities, from diverse backgrounds, at Explore Learning, an award-winning private tuition company with centres all over the UK. | Privately tutored A Level biology students in-person and online.

My original past paper method, proven to improve exam technique, identify gaps in content knowledge, and improve overall marks & grades.
Blind - Student completes past paper in timed, exam conditions
Open - Student goes back through the paper, adding to their answers using a different coloured pen
Mark - Student marks their work using the mark scheme
Back to Tutor - Tutor checks answers (from blind & open) and marking by student. Tutor identifies gaps in content memorisation, content understanding, and exam technique, to be worked on in future sessions.
